Easy-to-use editorial tools that let you focus on getting your job done, and not the quirks of your software

“One window” WYSIWYG editing

PostCMS includes a what-you-see-is-what-you-get web page editor that only allows predefined areas of the page to be edited. Authors can just click and type to update content; there's no need to open a separate window or popup for each text box.

Then you can swap into preview mode, hiding empty text boxes etc, without leaving the page. It makes for quick, efficient and flexible copy editing.

Behind the scenes, the page content is cleanly separated from its visual presentation; but that’s transparent to editorial staff.

Article management

Alternatively, you can create and edit content using a forms-based article management interface, from which web pages are automatically generated. This can be more efficient, especially if the content is originating from another production system.

Search, browse, filter

PostCMS scales well to tens of thousands of pages of content. Scalability isn’t just about storage and performance; user experience is just as important. You need to be able to navigate through all that content and find what you need quickly. PostCMS lets you quickly and simply browse, search and filter your content.

Keyboard shortcuts and multiple selection

Although web based, PostCMS provides keyboard shortcuts for many common operations. We also support multiple selection in most list views, so you can select a whole group of articles and process them at once, cutting down on repetitive actions.

Automated navigation

Web pages in PostCMS are based on predefined templates, which typically are designed to automatically construct navigation of various kinds: link lists, menus, breadcrumbs, tag clouds, etc. But you're not forced to use a particular navigational scheme. You can automate the navigation on some landing pages, but manually control it on others (eg. your home page).

Approval workflows

PostCMS uses a role/group-based permissions model. You can configure rules to enforce approval workflows; but also allow for ad-hoc approval requests.

Unicode and Word cleanup

PostCMS uses unicode throughout. That means you can paste in accented characters from another application without them turning into gibberish when they're displayed on another browser. We also automatically sanitize pasted content, stripping out extraneous markup from apps like Microsoft Word.

Customisation

The PostCMS user interface automatically configures itself depending on user permissions, so that staff are not presented with screens or options that are irrelevant to their job. We can also add in entire new custom screens to fit your production process.

Apple Mac support

PostCMS works every bit as well on a Mac as it does on a Windows PC, making life easier for designers and journalists. No need to fire up a virtual Windows machine!
